Senior Housing News
One of the largest non-profit operators in the country knows how important the internet is for residents.
Retirement Housing Foundation or RHF, understands that fast, reliable WiFi is a lifeline for elderly tenants, giving them the freedom to do everything — from reaching out to loved ones to paying bills to enjoying the latest streaming entertainment.
So in 2017 when RHF decided to take the plunge and install WiFi at its flagship property in downtown Los Angeles, company leaders looked to a groundbreaking firm with a stellar reputation: Commercial Connectivity Services.

Jeff and Jose at Realcomm 2026: AI, Connectivity, and the Future of Real Estate Technology
Last week, CCS founders Jeff and Jose, attended the Realcomm Conference in San Diego, one of the premier industry events focused on technology, innovation, and the future of connected properties in real estate.
One theme stood above all the rest: Artificial Intelligence is no longer a future concept — it's here, and is already rapidly transforming the real estate industry.
Throughout the conference, Jeff and Jose met with a number of companies showcasing new AI-powered solutions designed to help property managers, developers, builders, and owners operate more efficiently. From software that streamlines daily operations, to tools that improve decision-making and enhance residents’ experience, AI is becoming deeply integrated into how properties are built, managed, and maintained.
But amid all the excitement surrounding AI, another topic consistently emerged in these conversations: internet connectivity to support AI innovation.
None of these new technologies can function effectively without reliable, high-performance internet. So, as AI applications become more prevalent in multifamily and commercial real estate, the demand for robust connectivity continues to grow.
Whether it's multifamily communities, commercial office buildings, affordable housing, or mixed-use developments, internet access has evolved far beyond being a desirable amenity. Today, it's an essential utility that residents and tenants expect and depend upon.
For CCS, the conference reinforced what we've long believed: the foundation of every smart property is a robust internet network. As the industry embraces AI and other emerging technologies, ensuring that buildings have the right internet solutions in place will be more important than ever.
We're excited to continue helping our clients navigate this evolving landscape by connecting them with the broadband and technology solutions that support today's needs — and tomorrow's opportunities.

CCS specializes in setting up managed WiFi at multifamily and commercial properties, including affordable housing and senior living properties.
CCS has also developed a model for managed WiFi that allows landlords to create a new revenue stream from their buildings. By becoming partners with CCS on new ISPs for their properties, landlords have unlocked millions of dollars in new revenue, while also offering tenants reliable, safe, lightning-fast WiFi at far lower prices than competitors.

Annual RHF Conference in Long Beach: Always a Privilege and a Pleasure to Meet our Clients From Across the Country
Every year, it’s such a pleasure to spend a day in beautiful Long Beach, California, with our colleagues and friends from Retirement Housing Foundation properties around the country at RHF’s annual conference.
This year was no different. On an unseasonably warm and sunny day last month, CCS founders Jeff Skolnick and Jose Valenzuela spent a few hours putting faces to names and meeting and greeting RHF managers and administrators from across the nation.
CCS already provides wireless internet at some 20 RHF properties, and we’re currently working on expanding to three more. The relationship between CCS and RHF has never been stronger, and we are so proud to be the chosen WiFi contractor for the largest nonprofit senior housing provider in the country.
This business is about people, and there’s no substitute for spending a few minutes chatting to our friends and colleagues at this wonderful event each year.
It wasn’t all hugs and sharing gossip however! The RHF conference also offers great educational opportunities and a likely discussion about the future of senior living. This year, the focus was very much on the expansion of AI in technologies incorporated into multifamily senior living properties and how smart properties can adapt and expand services to residents and managers alike by embracing that technology.
Of course, none of those technologies are implementable without a solid foundation of wireless internet connectivity to base them on! Think of AI as the flashy new speedboat, capable of performing fancy tricks and breaking new horizons: The WiFi that CCS provides at properties is the wide, broad river that that speedboat operates on!
We’re immensely proud of the relationship we have built with RHF and hope to see you all again on the beach for many, many more years to come!

CCS at Broadband Communities Summit 2025
Over two hot days in June, co-founder of Commercial Connectivity Services Jeff Skolnick joined more than 1,500 attendees at the 2025 Broadband Communities Summit in Houston, Texas, to watch lectures, share tips, make deals and network about all things digital.
All the buzz at the summit — the largest conference in the United States dedicated to broadband communication — centered on the latest developments in managed Wi-Fi.
While by no means a new concept, the managed Wi-Fi of today is not the managed Wi-Fi of yesterday, explained Skolnick.
“With all the new technology out there today, managed Wi-Fi now gives people the ability to have their own network, rather than a shared one,” Skolnick said. “It’s not the old, outdated model any more.”
In the past, managed Wi-Fi meant logging in to one overall shared network — be it in a hotel, airport, mall or other public or private space. Today’s managed Wi-Fi networks serve more as an “umbrella” network for a property or properties, under which, individual offices or units can create and host their own Wi-Fi networks.
It’s faster, more secure, and more reliable, Skolnick said.
2025 Broadband Communities Summit
Attending the conference is just one way that CCS continues to expand and gain knowledge about the best technologies available to our clients around the country.
Whether it’s providing the fastest, most reliable and most secure in-home managed Wi-Fi at thousands of retirement units in more than a dozen states, or researching the most effective security and encryption methods for the managed Wi-Fi we provide at several high-end communities and offices, CCS is always working to stay on top of the latest trends and opportunities.
“The summit was a great opportunity to network with fellow industry leaders,” Skolnick said. “I learned a lot, as I always do, and I’ll be back next year for sure!”
CCS Presents at Annual RHF Conference in Long Beach
On Thursday, April 3, CCS met with representatives from across the country of Residential Housing Federation at its first annual conference in Long Beach, California.
It was a great event, and it was lovely to meet with so many committed administrators from all over the country.
CCS already provides managed Wi-Fi at 15 RHF properties, and we’re looking to further expand. The RHF/CCS partnership has been a great experience!
March 2025: CCS add five new properties to managed wifi portfolio:
Commercial Connectivity Services opened a new chapter this month in its longstanding relationship with Retirement Housing Federation (RHF), one of the nation’s largest nonprofit providers of affordable housing for seniors.
Rolling out in the next few weeks, CCS will begin providing managed wifi services in five new RHF properties in California, Indiana and Virginia, serving an additional 720 units. The expansion of our professional relationship with RHF shows that company’s continued commitment to using CCS as its preferred internet provider.
CCS began its relationship with RHF almost a decade ago, when we began providing internet at Angelus Plaza in Downtown Los Angeles. That massive project was, and remains, a great success. It led to CCS providing managed wifi at an additional nine RHF properties in Texas, and two more in Northern California. This new expansion brings the total number of RHF properties served by CCS managed wifi to 17. In total, we will now be providing broadband internet to more than 2,400 units across the country.
It’s an immense privilege and pleasure to provide our nation’s seniors with stable, reliable and lightning-fast broadband internet. The vital necessity of internet-based communication, from Zoom calls to keeping up with Facebook, came into stark focus throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. And we’re proud to have built and maintained so many networks that help families share photos and memories and stay in touch through difficult and happy times alike.
Our managed wifi can be accessed throughout all the buildings we serve. Instead of individual routers in each unit, with networks that stop at each front door, we provide a well-engineered web of broadband that can be accessed by registered users from every nook and cranny of every building.
“CCS has been our trusted Internet provider for our flagship property in downtown LA for over 5 years.” said Kristal Olvera, who manages Angelus Plaza. “Their services and products have consistently exceeded our expectations, providing our residents with reliable connectivity and top-notch customer service. We couldn't be more satisfied with their partnership”
We look forward to continuing to grow with RHF.
Jan. 2025: CCS Innovates:
Over-55s are a growing segment of the rental market. Today’s seniors are more tech-savvy than previous generations, and are willing to embrace technological advances that help keep them connected to their loved ones and keep them secure and safe in their homes.
Yet many multifamily landlords catering to the 55+ community are still missing out on opportunities to offer innovative services to their tenants that build on the technological platform offered by creating a whole-property broadband network.
By partnering with a company like Commercial Connectivity Services, landlords can create their own lightning-fast networks that don’t just offer broadband connectivity to tenants under a landlord-owned ISP, but also allow for improvements like property-wide security and safety networks, with innovations like a Life Alert program for every tenant.
We define these technological innovations and solutions in terms of Connectivity, Safety and Security:
Connectivity: Today's seniors are far more familiar with technology than previous generations. Your average 70-year-old in 2024 has a smartphone and a tablet, watches Netflix and Hulu, and communicates with their grandchildren using FaceTime. Whole-building networks allow tenants to seamlessly access this technology using the property-wide wifi. Whether a tenant is in a common area, an elevator or their apartment, their connectivity is flawless.
Safety: Once a whole-property broadband network is installed, tenants can take advantage of Internet-Of-Things technology in innovative ways that keep them secure and safe wherever they are in the building. For example, CCS is working to implement a Life Alert system for all seniors in one of its properties in Downtown Los Angeles. The Life Alert system will be connected to the property's broadband, meaning tenants are constantly connected to a safety network anywhere in the property.
Security: By installing whole-building networks, multifamily property owners are creating a technological backbone that can support sophisticated security systems.
Tenants can be handed a security card on day one that works in conjunction with facial-recognition technology to give them access throughout their smart building, thanks to the network. We have worked in properties where landlords are running Multiple ISP circuits for their surveillance cameras, access control systems, gate intercoms, package delivery, etc. Property-wide fiber networks like those installed by CCS provide a robust platform for every security system available, to keep tenants safe.
So, not only is installing a building-wide network a smart financial decision for any multifamily property owner, but for over-55 communities, the connectivity, safety and security improvements that can be built on that network make solutions like those offered by CCS a win-win-win-win!
